There have been widespread protests worldwide in the last few years. The UN Human Rights Committee adopted a new General Comment No. 37 - on the right of peaceful assembly, per Article 21 of the ICCPR. My quick take on the issues addressed by the comment, and the legal parameters and obligations relating to these protests.
